We have four graduates of the Leadership Brazos program on our team: Kevin Crenshaw '09, Becky Chumley '11, Andrew Harper '20, and Lataviya Qualls '21. Created in 1970, the Arts Council of Brazos Valley is a non-profit that aims to foster a community for the arts by spearheading local arts advocacy efforts. Providing over $4 million in funding support and governed by a board of community leaders, the Arts Council faithfully serves the Brazos Valley region to enhance the accessibility of the arts to all community residents. For the past 50 years, The Visual Art Society of Bryan- College Station (VAS) has been dedicated to the development and exhibition of local artists of all ages and skill levels. A volunteer, non-profit organization, The Visual Art Society seeks to stimulate increased interest and awareness of the value of the visual arts in the Bryan/ College Station area. Alongside monthly meetings featuring a guest artist presenter, VAS also hosts art shows, fundraising events, teaches workshops, and awards scholarships. Serving the Brazos Valley, Voices for Children is motivated by the desire to improve the lives of children in foster care. As the local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program, Voices for Children is comprised of 160 volunteers trained to be advocates and a consistent presence in a child’s life during their time in foster care.
